Maheshe Kodikara is the Chief Yoga/Taiji Quan teacher conduct all the retreats. He was born in 1968 in Sri Lanka. Now he is living and practising intensive meditation at the meditation centre since 1995. He also practises yoga and conducts classes for both locals and foreigners, as well as Taiji Quan (chen style - the original style in Taiji).
He started learning Yoga in 1980 when he was twelve years old from a Sri Lankan teacher, Swami Rasu. After that in 1996 he participated one of the yoga retreats conducted by Venerable Yogavachara Rahula. Then he started practicing with Paddy Mc Grath (from Australia) about 8 years. In the year 2000 he went to India for further training under Swami Rudra (Iyenga yoga method).
He is practising yoga asanas, pranayama (Bandha, Mudra, Kapalabhati), as well as Taiji Quan and Qi Gong. He has been conducting yoga classes for both locals and foreigners (beginners and advance) since 1996. Apart from that he has been teaching yoga at government schools, conducting 10 days yoga retreats, as well as individual yoga classes.
He started to practice Taiji in 1996 from a Buddhist monk Ven. Analayo. After that, in 1997 he was taught by a Japanees Taiji Master (a member of Taiji Pool of China) Koiti Aida and from year 2000 he began to learn from Master Jan Silberstoff who created the World Chen Xiaowang Taijiquan Associtaion. He has got the cetificate as the Taiji teacher from this Association and he is the first Taiji teacher in Sri Lanka.
